Celebrating and Releasing the OLD year!! …with gratitude

by Ayo (Pat) Hinds-Bankole on December 31, 2013

2014The first day of a new year (of this Common Era), is special for me in many ways. The transition into the New Year has created significant milestones in my life. Transitioning from 1986 to 1987, I "found" my husband-to-be on Jan 1. Transitioning from 1996 to 1997, I "found" me…my light, my greatness, my love, my beauty, my spirit, my true being on Jan 1. This was HUGE!  From this I made many significant changes in my life in 1997 that have wonderfully snowballed into my life today. The journey hasn't always been perfect but it continues to positively raise myself awareness.

The other way Jan 1 is special for me is that this is the time my husband and I take time to kinda do a year in review, but more importantly discuss TOGETHER where we are going individually and together in the New Year.

"Celebrating and Releasing 2013"

Last year we started doing a nice activity given to us by my spiritual wellness mentor Sakinah Beth Kinley (http://facebook.com/sakinah.b.kinley) of "Love, Joy, and Feeling Good Enterprises", called "Celebrating and Releasing < past year>".   From a series of questions, we take stock in and come to terms with gifts, lessons, challenges, and blessings from the year that has been. There are questions like:

"What beautiful lessons did you learn in <past year>?"

"What dreams came true?"

"What activities in your life did you learn need to be released?"

Then there's another series of questions to EMBRACE the New Year like:

 "What makes your heart sing?

"How do you want to feel in <new year>?"

"What do you want to be, do , have in <current year>?"

When we note what we want to be, do, or have we do that in the present. It would look something like "I HAVE my finances in order every month" "I AM 15 lbs lighter in June".  Then we apply my fav essential oils for this ocassion  Transformation or Highest Potential on our heart, forehead, top of head, rub hands and inhale.  [Lemon oil also works fine since it is cleansing.] Lastly, we join hands and with a deep breath in, give thanks for all that has passed, wait, and breath out releasing all that no longer serves us.   It's so wonderful and refreshing!!

Let's celebrate and release 2013 and clear the pathway for the miracles to come in 2014!.

If you want the full activity just leave a comment below or request via email at [email protected].  Any other comments, questions… leave below. I would love to hear how you start off or set your intentions for the New Year. [Psst..it's never too late. Don't let that little voice fool you wink.]

Keep LIVING your life CONSCIOUSLY in body, mind, and spirit.

Many Blessings,

What a wonderful New Year's ceremony you have created with your spouse. My New Year's intention is to love myself more and better. More self love is the "secret" ingredient in all situations. Radical self-care. When you love yourself, everything else just falls into place….

Thanks for the shout out! Peace and many Blessings!
